This install guide was made to guide you through a basic custom MythDora install. It also gives

you a peek of what the custom install looks like before you actually use it. If you have never done

this before and don’t mind possibly screwing things up, then please feel free to use the custom

install.

If your using another OS and your really uncomfortable about doing this, then maybe MythDora

isn’t for you. We suggest installing another hard drive and using the Auto install feature.

Thanks for your interest in MythDora.

This is the first screen you come to after the boot prompt. Click Next.

Please select your language.

Please select your keyboard type.

Choose the custom install as this will prepare the MythTV program. If you happen to have another

version of MythDora installed already, you may have another screen different than the one seen

here. It may say “Install MythDora” and “Upgrade an existing installation”. DO NOT do an Upgrade

as MythDora doesn’t like this. Choose Install MythDora !!

Click Manually partition with Disk Druid.

Now create /boot, /, swap and /video.  For newbies this can be a little confusing. Just try and create things as close to this as possible. The /video creation is the last to be done. Mark the third choice, Fill to maximum allowable size, to cause the partition to occupy all the remaining free space on the disk, regardless of size.

(WARNING: This is where you create partitions if you plan on using multiple OS’s. If your not sure what your doing, you run the risk of wiping out your existing partitions.)

Next you can leave this as is unless you plan on dual booting. If you have no idea what dual booting is, just click Next.

Now setup your network card for either DHCP or Static IP. You can elect to set this all up here or later on in the installation. If you set things up now, just make sure you answer NO to setting up networking later on.

Choose No firewall unless you know what your doing.

Choose your Time Zone.

Create your root password.

Now your greeted with package choices. If you plan on using MythDora then Full MythDora is required. You can pick and choose which packages suite your needs. If your still not sure then you can always choose Full Install at the bottom. The Minimum Install means just that. It is a minimum FC4 install that does not include MythDora and alot of other stuff as well.

Clicking Next will start your installation.

This is the package installation screen.

Installation is complete. Your system will reboot and you will then be greeted with 4 more screens that setup Date and Time, Display, etc.

Enjoy !!!!
